Photo Diary: Sunset at the Canyon

A collection of photos from my recent trip to the canyon at golden hour.

Sometimes the best moments are the ones you capture with a camera. Here are some photos from my trip to the canyon last week.

Golden Hour

There’s something magical about the light just before sunset. The way it paints the rocks in shades of amber and crimson is something you have to see to believe.

The View from Above

I hiked up to the overlook around 5 PM and waited for the magic hour. The 360-degree view was worth every step of the climb.

Details in the Shadows

Don’t forget to look at the details — the textures of the rock, the tiny plants clinging to the cliff face, the patterns in the sand. Sometimes the best shots are the small ones.

Tips for Landscape Photography

  1. Shoot in RAW — You’ll have way more latitude in post-processing
  2. Use a tripod — Especially for those golden hour long exposures
  3. Bring extra batteries — Cold weather drains them fast
  4. Arrive early — Scout your location before the best light
